Behr Pick: Towel Thursday

If you've followed Behr Blather for any length of time, you know that I prefer to feature pictures of men whose genitals are covered; there's enough porn and naked blogs out there. I've always subscribed to the "leave it to the imagination" school of thought. Now that doesn't mean some of the pictures I feature aren't daring; I know some are, including today's gorgeous towel-wearing hunk. I think a man in a towel - or a sarong - is absolutely one of the sexiest things on the face of the planet. I especially like this picture; the way the light glistens off his muscles, the dark ebony of his skin, the daring position of the towel. WOOF.

Well I can now talk about the endeavor I was hoping to undertake. On Monday night I auditioned for a part in the community theatre's next production, which is Twelve Angry Jurors. You may know the movie version, Twelve Angry Men, which starred Henry Fonda, Jack Warden, Lee Cobb, EG Marshal, Jack Klugman and others. I know the director, she's been a friend for over 20 years. I almost didn't go because I knew she wouldn't cast me. I thought I gave a good audition since I have not auditioned for a show for at least 10 years or so. And after I read the first time my hopes started to rise because I really thought I nailed it. There were, however, some really good people.

I wasn't cast. Perhaps if I had gone to the auditions on the second night I would have done better and made the cut. I admit to being disappointed. Although I didn't think I would get cast, seeing some friends talk about being cast on Facebook yesterday and not hearing anything myself just disappointed me. I really wanted to do this show. As the evening wore on I started getting angry because I thought I deserved a courtesy "Sorry" phone call. Well my friend finally called and left a message. I forgot that I had indicated on the audition sheet that if she needed someone to do lights I would be interested in learning this aspect of theatre. And so she was calling to ask me to do lights. I know it's a concession for not casting me but I just want to be a part of this show. Oddly enough, I do enjoy being one of the tech crew so in a day or so I'll be over it.

Besides....the guy she cast as Juror #8 - the good guy - is GORGEOUS. I am so looking forward to watching him perform every night and getting to know him.

So that was the personal thing that's been on my mind. It's a relief to finally know. I'm still disappointed but I'm also happy that I'll still be involved. Yay me.

Behr Pick: Woolly Wes

For Wednesday it's Wes, who hails from the UK. He bears that look that's the trend in certain porn genres; think Titan Media. Furry muscles, shaved head, beard or scruff, obligatory tattoo. Not that I'm complaining; I think he's woofy.

I had an appointment with my internist yesterday. Based on my blood and urine tests, I see him every 4 to 6 months. He changed my medication and has ordered a carotid duplex ultrasound. I've been having dizzy spells lately; he's just ruling out it's not something more serious than just my bp. I'm not done paying for the sinus surgery and now this. Ugh. It's a bitch growing old. Don't do it!

I'm a little on edge for other personal reasons. I'm hoping that tomorrow I can talk about the course of action that I'm considering. Although the decision is really made for me, I'm nervous about the outcome.

I hope everyone enjoys this Hump Day. BEHR HUGS

Heatwave!

We here in Southern California are experiencing summer temperatures. Right now - just after 5:30 a.m. - it is 80-degrees in downtown Los Angeles. Thank goodness for air conditioning at work!

I'm feeling a little stressed out about my day and indeed my week. I'm probably adding to it by considering a course of action but we'll see what happens. I don't want to say what it is until it either comes to fruition or I fail.

I hope you're staying cool. Go jump in a pool. Of course, if there's a hot daddy bear in the pool things are going to stay heated up. And that might not be a bad thing.

Sunday Favorite: 45

Jason Sokody is one of my favorite models to feature here at Behr Blather. From the clipped body fur to the tattoos to the pumped muscles to that seductively sexy look on his face...he is definitely one to raise one's....spirits. Thank goodness there is such a beautiful man gracing this planet. If you're a JS fan, keep an eye out, I have some incredible pictures where his look is completely different. Don't worry - he's still hot!

Last night I ushered at the local community theater. It was closing night of the season's opening show "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum." Ironically, back in 1986, this was the first show I did at the theater. It's a bawdy romp filled with Stephen Sondheim's music and lyrics.
Whenever I see a production of a show I've done, I can't help but be hypercritical. I sometimes hate myself for being judgmental like that but it's just part of who I am. Overall it was a fine production. The young couple who played Philia and Hero, the young lovers, both had incredible voices. The guy who played Pseudolus has a finely tuned sense of comic timing; I worked with him in "Pirates of Penzance" a few years ago; he also has a very good singing voice. I found fault with the Proteans, perhaps because that's the role I had when I did this show. During intermission, however, a good friend who I met on the set of my production whispered "I liked yours better." That gave me a sense of satisfaction. All in all though it brought back good memories of good times.

Not much going on today. Gearing up mentally for the week, which may not be a good thing to do since it will be another stressful week. I need to make the most of this Sunday. Hope you do the same.

Saturday's Challenge

Today's big errand/chore/challenge was to take Winston to the vet. It was time for his vaccinations and since it had been over a year since he'd been to see the vet, I called and made an appointment. I could have taken him to the clinic like last year but I decided I wanted him checked over. A "well baby" visit.

Everything is good. The doctor checked his teeth, heart rate, and butthole. Yes you read that correctly. The Vet lifted Winston's tail to check his hole; he growled. And not happily. Although I'm convinced Winston is gay I think this pretty much clinches it that he is NOT a bottom.

In addition to his vaccinations - including his rabies shot - Winston was weighed...he's a big boy tipping the scales at 16.75 pounds! He is healthy and set for the coming year.

We stopped off at Grandma and Grandpa's on the way home; they let me bring Winston inside (he was in his carrier) and let him out. He promptly hid under their sofa where he stayed until I pulled him out to leave. Shhhh! They don't let my sister bring her cat in the house!

We're home now and Winston is obviously relieved. I expect he'll be off to take a nap soon. I just may join him!

Behr Pick: Black Beef

Happy Saturday!

Today's special is black beef...found over at Dark Flex...I would like to wake up to him and not the sound of my gardener weed-whacking and mowing. I'd love to be wrapped in his massive arms, my head laying on his awesome chest. Grrrrr.

Behr Pick: Showers

I love my morning shower. I know that's probably a silly thing to admit, but it's true. I enjoy standing in the cascading hot water, absorbing its warmth and feeling the pulsating water hit those muscles where my neck and head join. It's relaxing for me and energizing at the same time.

Is it any surprise that showering with a partner is also a pleasurable experience for me? I would SO like to enjoy that with today's featured hunk.

Yesterday started out as if it was going to be a repeat of Monday and Tuesday; however, it turned and ended up being not so bad. There were some frustrating moments (why doe people feel the need to talk over me while I'm answering their questions?) and I did stay at work late but it definitely was an improvement. I received a nice email from my boss thanking me - THANKING ME - for my patience and dedication in forging ahead with my class despite the system and hardware problems. I also received some good news; the project that got moved up a week while I was on sick leave has been moved back to its original rollout date. Not sure yet if that changes my deadlines but if not I'm going to plead for another two days or so. It's only fair.

So I'm going into Thursday with a bit of a better mood. BEHR HUGS

Behr Pick: Blue Period

I was assured that Tuesday would be better than Monday.

It wasn't.

So I'm trying again with Wednesday today.

Jerry East is the featured model. I felt drawn to the blue shading because - well I just am. A wonderful picture of a beautiful man. It's got to do the trick, don't you think? Lie to me if you must. A man makes everything better.

Right.

Behr Pick: Tuesday Tattoo

Thank goodness Monday is over...and it was just as horrible as I anticipated.

My morning train was late.
My iPod died; I forgot to charge it.
My boss changed our meeting to a working lunch meeting.
I had to buy my own lunch.
My email program at work crashed.
I didn't get a chance to prepare for the 3-day class that starts tomorrow.
I ended up staying late.
The evening subway was late.
The evening train was late.
There was nothing on TV when I finally got home.
So I'm happy it's Tuesday.

And Tattoo Tuesday at that! Isn't this a great pic? When I first saw it, this adorable man's eyes totally caught my attention; then I started examining the rest of him...and the colorful tats are just incredible. I can only imagine the patience and dedication the sessions took.

So here's to a terrific Tattoo Tuesday! It's got to be better than yesterday, right? BEHR HUGS

Deleted Post

Today I was contacted by the bear who was featured in a May post. He asked that I delete the post because he doesn't like his pictures on the Internet or people searching for him by name. I of course removed the information (text and pictures) because I believe in peace and harmony. I'm sorry to lose the post; he is gorgeous.

*SIGH*

Oh well! There are plenty of other cocks in the yard.

Behr Pick: Albert Victor

I thought daddy Albert Victor would be a good way to start the week. I'm sure that no matter how rough, hectic, chaotic, frustrating, or stressful it is...he will make it all better.

Sunday Favorite: 44

It appears that Autumn has hit Southern California a week or two early of the equinox on the 23rd; cold overcast mornings that eventually warm up into beautiful days of mild temperatures and blue skies. The sun has been setting earlier and earlier as well. Soon it will be time to change our clocks and the depression will set in from not seeing daylight except on the weekends.

I found today's picture over on Dark Flex (possibly NSFW). This amazing photo blog specializes in black and latin men of muscle. I have yet to be disappointed in any post; the men are all incredible specimens of manhood. I highly recommend that you click the link and drink in these beautiful men.

It will be a typical Sunday for me. Although I'm feeling slightly anxious about the upcoming work week, I am endeavoring to enjoy this day of rest. Hope you do the same. BEHR HUGS

Behr Pick: Raoul

If you remember, back a week or so ago I posted a picture of Raoul and promised additional pictures. I try to be a man of my word so here I present the other pictures. I know they kind of have an animated look but that's what makes them so appealing. And the fact that the subject is freakin' hot. Love the beard, the tat, the light fur, the pierced nipple.

I had a lab appointment this morning and I treated myself to breakfast out. I've been to Costco and now I'm enjoying some coffee. I still have chores to do (the dishes, cleaning house, ironing and putting away the laundry). I'm hoping to have some "me" time later today to watch Netflix and maybe take a nap. A nap where I'm sure I'll dream of Raoul.

Hope you have a wonderful Saturday! BEHR HUGS

This morning on the train I snapped this papi with my cellphone camera. This was the best attempt as we were rockin' and rollin'. There was something sexy about him. Maybe it was that he said "good morning" to me at the station?

Behr Pick: Friday Fabulousness

"The only thing that separates us from the animals is our ability to accessorize."

You, of course, recognize the quote, spoken by the character Clairee Belcher in Steel Magnolias. I have yet to meet a gay man who does not love that movie and who cannot quote every line. I thought it a very appropriate quote to accompany today's picture.

Here's to a fabulous Friday! BEHR HUGS

Behr Pick: Hump Day Hunk

I don't know his name. I don't know where he lives, his age, his favorite ice cream, if he's single, partnered, married, straight, gay, or a closet Lady Gaga fan. I do know he is one of THE sexiest men I've ever seen. And his body is just begging for a head to toe tongue bath.

THAT is how I wish I could spend my hump day.

And you?

Behr Pick: Butch Daddy

Today's pick is this butch daddy of whom I know nothing. Except he's effing hot. I like how he has no tattoos and no piercings at least none that we can see. The sunglasses make him aloof and unapproachable but you just know he's searing into you with his gaze, undressing you and imagining you naked at his feet. I can't imagine there being any other place to be on a Tuesday, can you?

Behr Pick: Axel Brooks

To get the week started, here is Axel Brooks (NSFW). He's a 30-something porn star. Something about this pic makes me think of the manic Monday routine.

I don't have much to say this morning; just want to wish everyone a happy Monday. May it be quick and painless.

Saturday Behr Blather

Today has been a mostly relaxing day for me. I did a few minor chores (laundry, ironing, dishes) but I've been resting for the most part.

I watched "The Emperor's Club," which stars Kevin Kline and Emile Hirsch. It's a "History Boys" meets "Dead Poets Society" but without the emotional impact of either of those two films. I found it a little slow towards the end.

I finished reading "Snowman," the fourth book in Mark Abramson's Beach Reading series. I thoroughly enjoy his series, which is set in San Francisco, predominantly in the Castro. I also finished reading Rebecca M. Hale's "How to Wash a Cat," which I started reading shortly after my surgery. This is Ms. Hale's debut novel and it's really cute. Cat lovers will enjoy the descriptions of Isabella and Rupert, the two felines in the story. This novel is also set in San Francisco and deals with secret tunnels, tulips, and pre-Gold Rush era citizens of SF who, interestingly enough, share their names with several streets.

I also took a nap with Winston. There's nothing more wonderful than napping with your cat. They are so calming and relaxing. I watched some TV, caught up on some blogs, and basically just kicked back.

It's been a good day. I hope it has been for everyone too. BEHR HUGS

Behr Pick: Hans

TGIF!

Today I felt like a handsome furry daddy. Meet Hans. I believe I found his picture on a social networking site - probably a bear one - and so I don't have much more information than what's obvious: he's handsome and hot. I certainly would not mind spending my Friday exploring every inch of him.

Today I will be working out of a different office, doing some training. The pressures of work are starting to bear down again. It seems I can barely get one project kind of done when my boss dumps another two things on me. It's getting to be a bit tiresome. Thankfully it's the weekend and I won't have to think much about it until next week.

Enjoy your Friday. BEHR HUGS!!

08 September 2010

Oh Look!!

It's Hump Day already!!

So the doctor says I'm healing nicely, I finally have the okay to blow my nose (hey - that's a big deal), there are no flying restrictions (I'll probably be going back to SF soon), and....I get to irrigate my sinuses three times a day!!

Ok maybe that last little item isn't exactly something to be excited about. Or to be shared. But since I share just about everything, what the hell. I've had it done before (once) and it's really not that bad. Last night it actually made my nasal passages feel good and I was able to expel a lot of....matter. Oh sorry....TMI.

Work yesterday was interesting. I felt as if I was moving in slow motion and just moving papers around. I'm behind - way behind - on several projects and so I was pretty much frozen with panic. Today will hopefully be a day of more productive action. I tend to work better under pressure and so it's just a matter of setting my mind to the tasks and doing them.

Today's hunk is Raoul. I have some other artistic pics of him that I will share in another post some day. There's something about this particular pose that I just like a lot. *grin*

Enjoy your Hump Day! BEHR HUGS

Behr Pick: Tattoo Tuesday

Today is my first day back to work in a little over a week. I'm not looking forward to it. I shouldn't complain since my time off falls under the "sick pay" category and so I receive full pay and benefits for the time off. And I don't have to go in right away; I have another follow-up appointment with the doctor. But I know what's waiting for me and I just have no desire to deal with it. (What do you think of my petulant child imitation? LOL)

I suspect I found today's picture on Male Tattoo and Piercing (NSFW). The time involved must have been quite the commitment, for both the inker and the inkee. I think it's incredible. I'd like to see the front of this guy. I'm thinking pierced nipples and chest tats. Grrrr.

Here's hoping the week flies by! BEHR HUGS

Behr Pick: Railroad Cub

Happy Labor Day! It's a shame that most of us don't know the origin of Labor Day and the true meaning of this national holiday has been lost. It's another day off (for me, at least), and usually means great end-of-summer sales and BBQs.

In honor of the day and it's origin, I thought I'd feature this railroad cub. Ain't he purty? I wouldn't mind engaging in some hard labor with him. Woof.

Stop the H8: No More Silence

Last Sunday I received bad news.

A friend of mine and his partner were attacked outside of a BART entrance in San Francisco. The guy who attacked them got in a few good slugs; my friend received a black eye and had some bleeding; his partner was nearly kicked down the flight of stairs. His backpack took the brunt of the attack. They filed a police report, not that it will do any good, but they think it was a random hate thing so they wanted to report it. They think the guy was "on something." I've been reassured that they were not seriously hurt and are feeling okay.

This news disturbed me greatly. Obviously because I'm concerned for my friends' welfare. I hated thinking that they were hurting. I'm glad they were together; two against one are better odds.

This also disturbed me because it happened during the afternoon (sun shining) at one of the central stations. When I'm up in the Bay area it's a station I tend to use a lot at night. What's worse is it happened in San Francisco! It's apparent I live in a bubble or alternate-reality because I would think one of the last places a hate crime against two gay men would occur would be SF. Especially so close to South of Market. I know there are homophobes everywhere. I'm not quite that "head-in-the-sand." But I am surprised. And dismayed.

I've been thinking about this all week and decided to blog about it although it's not my story to tell. I'm blogging about it because I think we need to share such stories. In the early days of the AIDS crisis (which many of you know continues today), the group ACT UP had the slogan SILENCE = DEATH. And that slogan is still as important today as it was then for ALL of our issues.

We need to be aware. It's one thing to watch the organized hate groups (NOM, Tea Baggers, Focus on the Family, the various religious denominations) spout their hatred. It's another to have these loose cannons walking about who randomly attack innocent people, especially those we love.

Maybe I'm being all Chicken Little; but I ask that each and every one of you to be careful. It doesn't matter: gay, straight, male, female, a person of color, twink, bear...whomever you are...someone out there may decide that you are not what they like and you need to be taught a lesson. It's scary to think that in this day and age of "enlightened" thinkers there are bigots, but the truth is they exist.

So please...be careful.

Behrmark Returns

I'm back. Finally. Many thanks for the well wishes on my last post and a special thank you to Cubby for reaching out when he realized I wasn't back when I said I would. I appreciate the love and concern.

The experience wasn't as horrible as I anticipated although there were parts that were more difficult with which to deal than I thought. For now I'm healing well and although I have a few physical restrictions/limitations I believe those will be lifted early this coming week.

I missed you all. I missed reading through my favorite blogs and drooling over the hot men in other blogs. I'm hoping to get caught up soon.

I'm keeping this short today; perhaps I'll find time between grocery shopping and house cleaning to post a few experiences.
