Start Date and Tear Off

It's official...I will start my new job on October 27. Turns out my new boss won't be in the office when I wanted to start so I get an extra week to relax. Yesterday I went to the lab for my drug screening. I have no worries about the results.

The roof tear off went well. Meaning none of the six guys fell through the ceiling! It was a bit disconcerting, a bit more than when I had the foundation retrofitted. Winston cowered under the bed for a good part of the day. Now we're waiting for the city inspector (I guess, the ladder is still leaning against the garage). The crew that did the tear off was able to do it in about 4 hours, including cleanup. They had me open the garage so they could sweep out the debris. I appreciated that.

It dawned on me that some of you may not know that Winston is my cat.

I need some advice...I haven't updated my iPhone 5S to iOS 8 yet. Should I? Why or why not? Discuss, please.

That's about all for today - BEHR HUGS!

The Work - and Noise - Begins

So the foundation retrofit work has begun...and my oh my is it noisy! Drilling, pounding, what sounds like ratcheting...poor Winston is freaked out. Earlier today he came slinking out from the bedroom and the poor boy was shaking! I had to take him in my arms and go outside for him to calm down.

I admit to a couple of moments of being discomforted myself, especially when the guy was working just about under where I was sitting AND THE FLOOR MOVED. It was like a mini-earthquake. Not fun.

There's only one guy making all of this noise. I saw another guy walking in my backyard around to where the crawl hole is. He must have been checking on the guy, Luis.

The project manager called me this morning and asked if I wanted Starbucks. Sweet, huh? He came by to ensure the worker got there and started and to have me sign some papers. He hugged me good-bye just like the other day. I tell you, this is one friendly pm.

Tomorrow I am going to Disneyland. My friend wants to get an annual pass. We've been planning this for a while. But with all the noise I don't want to leave Winston alone. So I talked my friend into going tomorrow afternoon and staying for the evening. He agreed (yay) so that's a big relief off my mind. I'm just not comfortable taking off while a guy is working under my house. I'm not worried about him stealing anything; what I worry about is if he hurts himself and no one is around. I already think my house is haunted without adding to it.

I've had a good day though. I worked on my resume some more and read my new comic books. I'll probably turn on the TV in a little while. Or I may take a nap. I like naps, naps are good. I just wish I had someone to cuddle and nap with. Any volunteers?

Our weather here has cooled down a bit. We're in the 80s now with an occasional breeze. Quite nice. Definitely cuddling/napping weather. *sigh*

Lazy Wednesday

I so wish I didn't have to go to work today....I'd love to just go back to bed and lounge the entire day. Especially if I were to find THIS hot bear in my bed. Woof!

Here's a quick Behr Update:

I've been doing fairly okay. I keep meaning to blog here but I get easily distra-SQUIRREL!

Work has been going okay. I'm keeping busy which helps the day to move by a bit more quickly.

I've been seeing O a bit more again. We go through these cycles where we may text each other almost every friggin' day but don't physically see each other then suddenly it's almost every weekend we hang out. It's been nice, we've gone to the movies, checked out comic book stores, and of course cuddled and fucked. In fact, O was in the middle of pounding my ass last weekend when we were interrupted by my pest control company!

Winston is good. We haven't had quite the heatwave as predicted so he seems to be handling the weather okay. He's spending a lot of time under the bed, which I don't understand but when I get home from work he's very loving and talkative. I'm not sure if he's telling me about his day or complaining about something...but the talk is accompanied by purring so it could be vocalized love.

That's about all I have. Peace out.

Happy 8th Birthday Winston!

Today is Winston's 8th birthday! When I got him he was about six weeks old, his blue-eyes hadn't changed yet, and he was so small he fit in the palm of my hand. That's him eight years ago in the first picture. He's grown into a big boy. That's him last night pissed off when I woke him up to take his picture.

He has been my companion, my confidant, my best friend. To some he may be a cat but to me he is my furry four-legged child.

Happy Birthday Winston! Daddy loves you!

Happy Birthday Winston!

Today my boy, Winston, turns 5 years old. Although his exact birthdate is unknown, somewhere his veterinarian indicated April 14 as Winston's natal day.

For those of you who are pet caretakers - not owners because we don't "own" them - you know the absolute joy that a pet brings to your life.

Who else can I rely on to be there for me? To listen to my rantings, albeit from under the bed? And who greets me at the end of a long day, meatloafs on my chest and sings to me? Who snuggles on cold nights and makes sure I get up when I oversleep? Whose unconditional love chases away my loneliness?

Winston will be getting special meals today as well as new toys. I suspect, however, he will spend the day as he always does: sleeping in the middle of the bed.

Happy Birthday little buddy. I love you!

Saturday's Challenge

Today's big errand/chore/challenge was to take Winston to the vet. It was time for his vaccinations and since it had been over a year since he'd been to see the vet, I called and made an appointment. I could have taken him to the clinic like last year but I decided I wanted him checked over. A "well baby" visit.

Everything is good. The doctor checked his teeth, heart rate, and butthole. Yes you read that correctly. The Vet lifted Winston's tail to check his hole; he growled. And not happily. Although I'm convinced Winston is gay I think this pretty much clinches it that he is NOT a bottom.

In addition to his vaccinations - including his rabies shot - Winston was weighed...he's a big boy tipping the scales at 16.75 pounds! He is healthy and set for the coming year.

We stopped off at Grandma and Grandpa's on the way home; they let me bring Winston inside (he was in his carrier) and let him out. He promptly hid under their sofa where he stayed until I pulled him out to leave. Shhhh! They don't let my sister bring her cat in the house!

We're home now and Winston is obviously relieved. I expect he'll be off to take a nap soon. I just may join him!

O Tannenbaum

My family always decorated Christmas trees very simply and I've continued the tradition. Although I wish I could decorate a tree a la Miss Ginger Grant, I just don't have that talent. Besides...I kind of like seeing the green of the tree. The ornaments are a combination of glass balls I've collected from World Market, porcelain animal ornaments made by Amsbury, and my Mickey Through the Years ornaments. There are some glass bears, some wood birds, and real tacky plastic Target balls that are for cat-batting. The angel on top was crocheted by a friend I worked with years ago.

Oh and yeah...the tree is fake.

That's Winston asleep underneath in the second picture. He doesn't know what a tree is and so it took him a bit to "accept" this "thing" in the house.
