Tonight the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences present their annual awards. I'm not going to make any predictions but I will say my fingers are crossed for Colin Firth. I was invited to an Oscar party by someone I've only met twice; yesterday I accepted but today I had to renege as I have a headache. I'm a little disappointed but I thought it was awfully kind of him to extend the invitation. So anyway it will be a quiet evening at home alone, just me, Winston, and Oscar.
On another note, it seems there's absolutely no manners or civility left in the world. The other night a friend wanted to go out and we decided on dinner and a movie. I had already seen the movie but sat through it again because it is an Oscar-nominated film. I paid for the movie AND dinner. I also drove. I was thanked but the issue I have is that he didn't even reach for his wallet when it came time to pay for either the tickets or the meal. I understand he is unemployed, however in my mindset, that would automatically engage some restraint in going out. Maybe I'm feeling a bit taken advantage of but if I were unemployed I would not ask a friend to go out then not at least offer to pay my share. I'm just sayin'.

Your absolutely right Mark. Sorry you got taken. I'm disabled and live on a very modest income and would never behave like that. I've been in situations like that and have no money but at least ask to pay for what little I can. Shame on him!
Thanks Nik and Stan. I often wonder if maybe I'm out-of-touch with reality. I don't mind paying but I just thought he could have had the courtesy to make a gesture or offer of paying a portion. I suppose when you're 29 years old though you don't think like that.
