Behr Pick: Muscled Fur

Happy Saturday!

To celebrate, here's something I hope you'll enjoy looking over. Grrrrwooof!

I'm basically spending the day doing chores: laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, and the like. Thrilling, eh?

Tonight I'll be going to Universal Studio's Halloween Horror Night. This will be the fourth year in a row that I've gone. If anyone can do a Halloween event, it's Universal, what with the available "movie magic" at their disposal.

The mazes are well done and based on popular movies: Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the Saw series, Chuckie, et cetera. The execution and recreation is brilliant. One year in the Chainsaw maze, there was a guy strapped to a table screaming as Leatherface "skinned" his face. The actor on the table had a most excellent makeup job to resemble being skinned alive.

Now let me be honest: I've seen bits and pieces of these movies. I'm not a slasher movie fan. To my personal interpretation of the Samhain holiday is more along the lines of vampires, werewolves, ghosts, and Frankenstein. Most definitely old school. And yet I really enjoy this event! I think part of it is my fascination with "how they do it" and the overall effect of decoration. There's an incredible eye for detail in these mazes and I appreciate the work put into them even if I'm not familiar with the story.

In addition to the four or five mazes, there's The Mummy Ride, The Simpson's Ride, shows to see, and scare zones. Last year there was a "Sean of the Dead" scare zone that was hilarious!

I may take my camera; but it's usually quite dark and my camera's flash tends to go off and that isn't fair to the actors/participants and other event goers. We'll see. I'm going with four friends; one is driving up to ride with me, which will be nice to have the company. Another of our friends isn't able to go tonight; he'll be missed.

So that's what's on the schedule. Oh! And definitely a nap!
