Profile Bears

For this morning I thought I'd feature some bears in profile. Just check out those strong noses and chins down below.

The weekend was good. On Friday afternoon/evening I went to Disneyland with my new friend C. We had gone in early July and he wanted to get an annual pass; he had some difficulty - long story that only supports the "Disney as evil corporation" conspiracy - but he was able to finally get a pass this past Friday. I'm happy for him because he was really excited about it. I'm happy for me because I have a new Disney partner!

On Saturday I spent the afternoon/evening with O. We went for boba, hit three comic book stores (I made a killing in finding back issues), had a pizza, and just browsed through a couple of stores for the fun of it. We went to Beard Papa in Cerritos for dessert. It had been about three weeks since I last saw him and I was missing him something awful. I hate to admit it...but I do really love the guy.

A different worker is here today working underneath the house. Winston - as usual - is a little unnerved. I know I should be doing something productive but it's already very warm and humid. I'm sweating as I sit here and it's only a little after 10:30am. I've done dishes and a load of laundry (bought some new sheets on Sunday) so it's not like I've been completely lazy. I may go out into the garage and start tossing stuff. I'm in a purging mood.

So that's about all that's going on with me.

A Good Day

Yesterday was my birthday. I am not telling my age (and if you know it, you can just keep that information to yourself!). What I will say is that I had a good day.

I spent most of it at Disneyland, just as I've done for the past 15 years or so. My friend Patrick (in the side picture) tagged along and so it was a special day. We were able to ride several attractions and had a lot of laughs. He's a great guy and a good friend.

In addition, I had over 50 of my friends wish me a happy birthday on FB. I admit to being a bit surprised. I knew I'd get some comments but never did I dream it would be that many. It truly does warm the cockles of your heart when people reach out to you.

I've been good. Not fantastic, not terrific, not great but good, which is a lot better than okay and fine. I appreciate those of you who have checked in with me. I appreciate you and your actions.

I hope everyone has a swell hump day! BEHR HUGS

Behr Pick: Friday Fur and Muscle

Need I really say anything about today's featured demigod?

After work yesterday I met up with a friend. We've been trying to get together for lunch but it just hasn't worked out due to respective schedules (he works in downtown too). I suggested drinks after work since I've been working late and I know he usually leaves his office about 5; he thought that sounded like a good idea. When we firmed up the day/time he suggested coffee in lieu of alcohol. Oddly enough we just talked and never had coffee! It was good to see him despite the topic of conversation. I don't want to betray trust so suffice it to say he and his BF had a bad incident this past weekend and he needed to talk.

So today is my deadline for the project I've been stressing over for the past couple of weeks. Needless to say, I don't think I'll make it. If I stay at my desk and work on nothing else I might be able to get it done but I get interruptions and have other tasks to accomplish. I decided to not stress out over it and to get done what I can get done.

This weekend is the unofficial Gay Days - or Red Shirt Day - at Disneyland. I haven't completely decided whether to go or not. It will be an opportunity to use my annual pass before it expires (I haven't decided if I'm going to renew). The atmosphere and the group that I usually hang out with - bears you know - has changed dramatically over the years. It's just not the same as it was a few years ago. Change can be good but there are some things we'd rather didn't change.

Other than that, not much else on tap for the weekend other than the usual chores. Good grief I'm boring!

Enjoy your Friday. BEHR HUGS

Friday Night and Feeling Strange

Tonight I met my friend, K, at Disneyland. You may remember my brief post about him; he's the one who was extremely ill. He's doing a lot better although he's lost an incredible amount of weight. He looks older, to be expected, and moves slower but the offbeat sense of humor is still there. We both teared up several times as we caught each other up on what's been happening. It was very good to see him.

K is a friend of S from my Love, Not Love posts. In fact, K and S dated briefly before I met S. Because they are good friends, K talked about S a lot. Sometimes we make allowances for our friends and let them say whatever they want.

K did ask at one point if it bothered me that he was talking about S. I hesitated about 10 seconds too long before I said it was okay. He picked up on it. So we did talk about him, not rehashing the past necessarily but in general.

K said he knows for a fact that S would like to have a "friendly association" with me.

I told K about S not calling me when K was ill. I also told him that S never asked me what was wrong. K said that that's just who S is, that he holds his emotions inside. I told K that, to me, it meant I was not important on any level to S.

The strange thing is I've often thought about extending the proverbial olive branch. I was thinking this before posting Love, Not Love. But as I told K tonight...I'm not ready. I know I'm being childish and spiteful and stubborn. But hey! I'm a Taurus!

Fear not dear readers. I won't be contacting S any time soon. I think if he and I were to talk or connect again it wouldn't last. So why bother. He had his chances and he blew them both.

Tonight has left me feeling strange. I cannot explain the feeling but I'm just feeling....off. Hopefully a good night's sleep will rectify this.

Thanks for reading. BEHR HUGS!!

Sunday Favorite 13

I must be in a romantical mood because today's picture just seemed perfect.

I had a really fantastic Saturday and am definitely feeling the effects today. A friend and I went to Pasadena (home of the infamous Rose Parade and Rose Bowl) to shop; he needed to get a present for his brother's birthday.

After shopping and going into a few shops we stopped at a little tea place and had tea and sandwiches. This really surprised me because although I enjoy a nice pot of tea I didn't think he was that type. We had the most adorable waiter, which only added to the fun.

Later we met up at Disneyland; he was in the vicinity for his brother's birthday dinner. While I was waiting I rode a couple of rides at California Adventure; we then strolled over to Disneyland and watched the holiday fireworks show. (I also saw some other friends, which was nice.)

After fireworks my friend and I went to a little place he knows call The Twisted Vine. Basically it's a wine bar. We had a really nice Cabernet (I believe it was a California wine), a tasty Shiraz from Australia, and a mini-meat/cheese platter. Although the wine selection seemed better than our usual wine bar and the food was top notch, it was crowded and noisy, something that I think damages the experience. I'm sure we'll go back though. The bar man called him a cab and I drove home. No worries dear readers; by the time the cab arrived for my friend I'd sobered up. Eating a baguette of bread by myself helped too! There was talk of his going home with me but it just wasn't feasible due to my Sunday responsibilities. Thankfully, he understands duty to family.

It was a very nice day and the perfect way to end my vacation. Back to work tomorrow; I'm not looking forward to that! I hope everyone had a good if not great post-Thanksgiving weekend.

Red Shirt Day

Tomorrow is Gay Days at the Happiest Place on Earth - Disneyland! On the first weekend in October, the GLBT community gathers to enjoy a day of freedom at the parks in Anaheim CA. All those who identify - and support - wears a red shirt, many with witty images and/or text. It's really amazing to see thousands of our brothers and sisters traipsing through the park.

I usually hang out with the bears - big surprise! There are some organized events at the neighboring hotels but I always take the simple route: I go (I'm an annual passholder) and ride rides and hang out with new and old friends. Sometimes our group swells to 40+ bears. It's a lot of fun!

Of course, we stop to take group photos every so often. On Sunday, those who haven't gotten enough visit Disney's California Adventure. I usually pass on this as I'm too wore out from the sun and fun of the day before. Here are some group photos from past years.

The pictures aren't really in order but that's okay. Unfortunately I do not have a camera (I really need to get with it) but may try to snap some with my cell. So even if you can't join us (you're welcome for the late notice!) wear a red shirt in solidarity anyway.
