Hello November

October is over and we are now into November. I love autumn: the colors, the weather, the holidays. I've a new reason for loving autumn: my new job.

It's only been a week but that one week has nearly erased the previous 18 years. I am so happy to be where I am. The people are the best. Everyone is friendly, welcoming, accommodating, understanding of being new...and yes there are quite a few not unattractive men. Here's a quick rundown of my first week.

Monday: Orientation day. Not only did we complete the usual first day paperwork, we watched videos about the company, the manufacturing process, and took a 2-hour tour of the plant. I was fascinated by the whole thing. The company provided coupons for lunch at the on site cafe, which is run by Bon Apetit.

Tuesday: I participated in my coworker's class. A Continental breakfast and lunch were provided. Again, the food was delicious. My coworker has a great relaxed training style. I enjoyed the interaction and meeting some new ladies (I was the only male).

Wednesday: I started my online certification to be able to train a particular class. Attended meetings with my coworker and met more people. I'm understanding a bit more the scope of the company. My North Carolina boss was in LA for a few days for meetings so I got to meet him in person. He and I met at a restaurant in Pasadena for dinner at a swanky spot, Smitty's Grill. I was a little anxious about it but once we were both there it was fine. He ordered a bottle of wine and that really broke the ice.

Thursday: A meeting and a couple of projects received. I continued my online certification program and met more people. After work was a Halloween Happy Hour, complete with hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, pasta salad, beer, wine, soda, water, cupcakes, cookies....and a costume contest. No I didn't dress up. Here's our Payroll department:

Unfortunately they didn't win but I voted for them. I thought they rocked! Plus I wanted to be sure I got on their good side!

Friday: Halloween proper. I probably shouldn't talk about this day but I will...so I got to work REALLY early. And started my thing. My coworker took me and another newish employee to lunch. Then I left work at 2pm. Because that's how we roll.

So basically I did nothing this week but eat! It's been fabulous. A way to a man's heart truly is through his stomach. *wink*

So I had a nice time last night. I had bought candy and thought I'd pass it out but no one came to the door. I don't know if it was because I haven't passed out candy in the past, the fact my porch light is on a motion sensor, or because I didn't have a pumpkin or any indication of Halloween participation. It might have been the RAIN we got! Yes! It rained last night! Woo Hoo! It was so fucking awesome, like God just turned on the shower full blast.

Another nice thing was O came over and we had dinner (pizza, salad) and watched a movie and some Buffy episodes. I haven't seen him in four months. Pretty much since I got laid off. He looks better now I think, he's let his hair grow and his beard. He has a boyfriend now but I didn't quiz him. It was nice to see him and spend time with him. I have a feeling that it will be a while before I see him again. Not sure what's going on but life happens.

Tomorrow is the Kidney Walk. Mom and I plan to go. We registered but didn't donate/raise money because I've been unemployed and she doesn't have the extra money. And we don't like asking people for money. Next year hopefully we'll be able to fund raise.

It's about 8am and it's raining again. We desperately need it but I had errands to run. Guess I'll wait and see if it moves on this afternoon.

Welcome November!

Behrmark's 2012 Hallowe'en Costume Ideas

Although Hallowe'en isn't until next Wednesday, many celebrants will be dressing up this weekend to attend parties, street fairs, and parades. If you're still undecided as to what costume to wear, here are some ideas - most are simple, some are a little more elaborate - but all guaranteed to get you noticed!

Drape a piece of cloth around your body to make a sexy toga. Finish the look with gold wrist cuffs.
Overalls always make a great, simple costume. Top it off with a hard hat and voila! You're a construction worker!
You may opt to leave the hard hat at home to free up your hands.
A red union suit always makes a sexy costume.
A bit more elaborate, the fireman daddy is sure to be a hit. Of course it helps if you already have all the gear to pull it off.
A simpler fireman look may be less expensive. (Hose not included.)
Since the economy has hit many of us hard, a simple festive option is to don an orange tie. Pair it with your favorite jockstrap, jeans, or slacks for a classier look.
Who can resist playing Santa?
Don a pair of green leather coveralls and BAM! Hammer time!
A leather mask from a Renaissance Faire adds the right hint of mystery.
Remember Goldie Hawn in "Protocol?" Take that checkered napkin (or table cloth) and you have instant sheik!
Your fetish wear makes a swell costume, too!
Fabric is a terrific starting point; tie it around your face and let it flow behind you, and you have a mysterious caliph. (Silk works best for this look.)
Finally, a butcher's apron can be imagined into a costume too. Splatter fake blood over it and carry a cleaver. Or maybe just wear it alone as Jake Mitchell is.

So there you have it - Behrmark's 2012 Hallowe'en Costume suggestions. Happy haunting!

Juan Jose Bracho Does Halloween

And he does it RIGHT! I stole -er - collected these pics from his FB account (see, there is a good reason to have a FB account and to befriend JJB!). I'm not certain what he is supposed to be except maybe Zeus or some other hunky, bearded, furry god. And check out his friends....amazing that all that beauty is in one picture. Of course, Juan Jose is THE hottest of the three. Enjoy! BEHR HUGS!!

Last Minute Costume Ideas

Here are some last minute costume ideas:

First....real easy...just take some fabric and drape it around your naked body in a toga-like fashion.

This may take work but the result is fantastic. Just wrap leather or pleather or vinyl around your waist, secure it with a wide belt, grab that decorative sword and voila! Sexy gladiator!

An old shirt strategically ripped makes a great last minute costume.

Finally something to do with that old piece of burlap and rope lying around! Grab a stick and you're all set to woo the party with your daring and sexy costume.

Happy Halloween

Grab your masks and be someone else for one night!

Costume Ideas 3

My final installment of costume ideas. These are all a little more elaborate and perhaps time-consuming - unless you've done this sort of thing before.

First up, the horse. Yeah I know leather is expensive but I can totally see someone walking down Santa Monica Boulevard wearing this. On second thought, I have seen someone wearing this on the street - and it wasn't Hallowe'en!

Man of the wood...it takes mostly makeup and leaves, straw, hemp rope and other natural elements. Probably good for a party because out in the darkness most people may think you're a zombie.

I love the work and detail in this satyr costume - from the horns to the furry breeches to leather harness to the furriness of this adorable cub. Definitely a contest winner.

Zombies are always good, especially since there's been a rise in zombie movies. You don't necessarily need the huge nail in your head but it is quite effective.

For the more politically-minded, you can paint yourself as the rainbow flag. Pride is always in style.

Finally, my personal favorite, the vampire. I admit that being a vampire for Hallowe'en was always one of my favorite costumes. And I love the eroticism of the tale. But recently it seems we've become over saturated with vampires (Twilight, Vampire Diaries, Club Blood) and the mystique is being dragged down to commonplace. So if you insist on becoming a vampire this year, shake it up and be a BLUE vampire!

So there you have it - Behrmark's costume ideas. If you do dress up, send me a pic and I'll post it for others to see your creativity. Happy Haunting and BEHR HUGS!!

Costume Ideas 2

Here are more costume ideas geared toward the cost-conscious (or plain exhibitionists):

Throw on a pair of funny pants, a tie, and slap some cheap makeup on and go as a clown. (I had to crop out what this crazy clown is doing....use your imagination!)

Wear a pig mask and nothing else. Or go for the erotic ringmaster look by wearing a top hat. White gloves are optional.

How about the vogue model/Madonna backup singer?

I like this idea: Get some velvet or velveteen and wrap it around your waist, then shred the end of the material and drape it all over. When people as what you're supposed to be, say something silly. I call this one "Cupid."

If you've got a little money but not enough for a complete costume, there's always the Roman soldier. Here are a couple of examples.

I have a few more costume ideas that I will share later today. BEHR HUGS!!

Costume Ideas 1

Hallowe'en is a mere week away so I'm offering up ideas for those of you who haven't quite found the "perfect" costume.

Wear a gas mask. And nothing else.

Or go as a Diva (so many of you are already):

Or perhaps a fireman. (WOOF!)

Be creative and go as a Christmas tree by draping yourself in lights.

I also like the idea of a hazardous waste worker. The key is to not wear underwear or a shirt.

More costume ideas will be forthcoming. BEHR HUGS!!
