Academy Award winner Karl Malden has died. Best known for his TV series "The Streets of San Francisco," with costar Michael Douglas, Malden won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in "A Streetcar Named Desire." Other films include "On the Waterfront," "Gypsy," "Birdman of Alcatraz," Disney's "Pollyanna," and "Dead Ringer" with Bette Davis.
In addition to his film and television work, Malden was also the "face" of American Express Traveler's Cheques, making the "Don't leave home without it" catchphrase popular.
Karl Malden was 97. It is indeed a sad day in Hollywood.
