Down for the Count

Well it was only a matter of time. Not only did my PC bomb out on me again but my laptop decided to follow suit. So that means I'm basically PC-less except at work and I really don't want to risk violating all of the company's internet security/usage policies. So Behr Blather is going to take a (hopefully short) hiatus until I can either get one or both machines up and running or I purchase a new device (considering a Macbook Pro). Hopefully this picture of Tober Brandt will tide everyone over until I return.

Make It Stop!

Found this cute pic over on I Can Has Cheezburger. It's how I feel. I'm experiencing PC problems again so I'm working off my laptop, which isn't exactly functioning correctly either. Errrrr. I have a friend who I've asked to look at my PC (he's a techy computer guy) and so hopefully he'll be able to get the PC up and running. I'm also hoping I don't lose the thousands of pictures I have saved. I know I know...."back up" just isn't in my vocabulary.

I certainly hope this isn't a premonition for 2010. Behr Hugs!!

I'm Back!

Yesterday my friend swapped out the dead power supply with the new one I bought online and I now am back to full access to my many pictures saved. Thankfully it wasn't a virus or some other file-deleting problem.

The same friend and his partner had me and another of their friends over yesterday. The suburb of LA in which they live can be 10+ degrees hotter than anywhere else. And yesterday it was scorching! After D fixed my PC and F arrived, we sat around and talked until the pool was in the shade. We all got into the pool and it was very refreshing! Naturally, being all guys without any hangups, we skinny-dipped. It's the only way to go!

D had fixed a wonderful chicken salad on a bed of lettuce for dinner. It was delicious! F and M drank white wine, I was having red, and D drank water. But we all had some champagne as well. After dinner we watched the BluRay 2-D version of Coraline. Then we had dessert (provided by moi, fresh fruit with petite angel food cakes topped with all natural vanilla ice cream). We talked more and finally F and I said our goodbyes. When I got home I had been gone for nearly 10 hours! Over all it was a very nice Saturday.

Sunday Night News

So as I mentioned last time, I exchanged a few messages with my PC guru and another friend and both say it sounds like the problem with my PC is the power supply. It shouldn't cost more than $50-60 to replace and I should be able to do it myself. I was brave this evening and opened up the CPU to take a quick look; so many wires! So instead of detaching the existing one, I'm going to hold off until I have the new one to put in. It makes sense to me to unhook and hook up so I don't screw it up. I will most likely go get the new part after work one night this week. In the meantime, the laptop is working fairly well, just s-l-o-w. My postings will be light this week but I will be checking in with those who I follow. I recently gained my 20th follower - zowie! BEHR HUGS!

Not Quite Back

Things are starting to look up here in Behrland. I dragged out the old laptop - an ancient Toshiba thing that weighs about the same as five bricks - to see if I could access my PC files...my friend who built my PC also set up a mini-network but since I rarely used the laptop I unplugged it. Anyway I contacted said friend who is my PC guru (and the most adorable cub, btw) and he thinks that it is the power supply. It shouldn't be too much to replace I guess...$50? Considering all the time and effort I put into gather pictures from the Internet plus all of those personal pictures people took of me out and about I think that's a steal. I'm waiting for more info from my guru...so in the meantime I'm going to start stealing - um - gathering pictures using the laptop so I can keep Behr Blather going. This laptop has issues of its own (possibly due to that night several years ago when I threw it against the wall in a drunken rage). Mark in DE tagged me and I need to do that too...so things are looking up! BEHR HUGS!

Aarrgghh!!

There's something wrong in Behrland. Not sure what the cause is but the PC randomly shut off and I can't get it to even turn on again. I'm thinking "power source" but the other electronic bits and pieces that are using the same power strip bar are working just fine thank-you-very-much. My worst fear is v-i-r-u-s that has wiped the hard drive. And my PC guru moved to Seattle two (three?) years ago. So basically I'm saying that Behr Blather is temporarily banished from cyberland. This forced abstention from the Internet while I search for a (gay) computer whiz will be good for me. I'm surreptitiously posting this at work. Shhh. Wish me luck! BEHR HUGS!
