Sunday Check In

I keep meaning to blog but get distracted by other things and so it hasn't happened for a while. This is actually becoming an ongoing problem for me - finding the motivation to do things. And I'm not talking just blogging, it's also things like doing the dishes or cooking a meal, finishing the laundry or cleaning house, watering the yard or dead heading the roses...it's bleeding over into my work life as well. I find it extremely difficult to feel motivated to get up and go, to actually DO something at work...the only task I am mastering is the "going home" part.

I suspect it's depression although I have no idea what is causing it.

Anyone else have this issue? What did you do about it?

I'm struggling with a similar feeling, behr. And I don't know what to do about it either.

I've noticed a general lack of interest and motivation in many things the last few years. I used to go to movies 2 and 3 times a week but now I rarely go. I've lost interest in my home as well. I show all the signs of depression but haven't done a thing about it. I can't imagine a drug being of any help. Especially with all the bizarre side effects. I hope that this is just a temporary thing for you. Keep me informed.

I have found a distinct lack of motivation among my friends for things that used to be fun...movies, music, vacations, food. Every day it is harder and harder to follow through on daily activities and extracurricular events. Part of it is burnout because we have seen so many movies, heard so much music, and been many places. At age 50 you are too young to be feeling this way. You may live another 30 or 40 years and no one wants to drag through those years without joy or purpose. Let's get to the bottom of this and find out if there is a physical cause. Start with a doctor visit and be honest with him. Get together with some friends and talk about it. I've gone through a similar period, but I'm feeling better now. If you need to exchange thoughts with others, let us know.

I seem to be going through this too and I hate it. I've even thought of quitting the gym but somehow stir up the motivation to keep going. It's been a year and my waistline has gone down but my weight stays the same. The trainers say the fat is turning to muscle which makes me laugh. If they could only see me naked they'd change their minds. lol!
Hang in there Behr. We're all struggling one way or another. Your not alone.
