Congratulations!

Congratulations to my friend Glenn and his husband Wendell!

Glenn and Wendell officially - and legally - tied the knot this past weekend as part of the first wave of same-sex Washington State residents to legally wed.

This picture was taken by Satya Curcio Photography outside of City Hall and posted on FB. (Click the link to see a few other pictures on their blog; there are some really handsome men in Washington!)

I've been sitting here at my desk at work silently crying...mostly out of joy and happiness. Glenn is one of the most terrific men I know; I've missed him terribly since he moved back to Washington. I never thought of Glenn as the marrying kind but I'm so thrilled that he has found his life partner. Mazel Tov!

Behr Bits

Hello Behr fans! I know it's been a while since I've had a long, informative, thoughtful post...it seems that when I've attempted to write something my mind either goes blank or I get so wrapped up in details the point is lost. I'm going to try to do this in bite-size bits.

For starters, today's model is - in my opinion - hot. There's just something about him that makes me swoon. I have no idea who he is. I obtained this pic from a private group on Facebook. I say this only because lately I've gotten negative comments - always from "Anonymous" - about posting pics of guys I've taken and explicit pics to which the guy gave me access. My question is, how does "Anonymous" know I didn't get permission from these guys? Just because I didn't say I did doesn't mean I didn't. So quite frankly if "Anonymous" doesn't like it then he/she can just not tune into Behr Blather. In fact, I'd appreciate it if he/she would just go away and spread their negativity elsewhere.

My usual daily commute to work involves a passenger train, a subway light rail, and a 2-block walk. It was on the walk portion of my commute the other day that I passed a guy walking his little poofy dog...I think it was a Pomeranian...the guy was not my type...short, bald, a light scruff, thin build...I actually barely looked at him...but it hit me about 10 steps past him who I think he was:

ONGINA!!
If you remember, Ongina was a dragtestant in Season 1 of RuPaul's Drag Race, coming in 5th.  I could be wrong but I do believe it was Boy Ongina that I passed. I've read somewhere he's lives in Los Angeles but I assumed it was West Hollywood, not downtown LA. Whether or not it was him, I'm counting it as a celebrity sighting!

Have you seen those incredibly smarmy Christian Mingle adverts on television? I know somewhere in Scripture it says God moves in mysterious ways but online dating?? These people are delusional. Their tag line of "Find God's match for you" makes my skin crawl. And the male actors they hired to portray happy heterosexuals silently scream gay.

Speaking of gay, congratulations to Josh & Brent, the goat farmers, who won Amazing Race 21, becoming the second openly gay couple to win the around the world race. What was very cool was CBS actually showed Josh and Brent kissing as they celebrated their win. One other contestant said that Josh & Brent opened his eyes to not judging anyone for their lifestyle. Sounds like a win-win to me.

On a personal note, I only have this work week left before taking some time off. I'm hoping this week goes by quickly and painlessly. I really need this vacation. I've been taking the last two weeks of December off for quite a few years now; it's nice to have the time off around the holidays. I plan to finish my holiday shopping, visit friends, go to the movies, and do some stuff around the house/yard. Believe me...I'm on a countdown.

Well that's about all I have for now. Be good to yourselves!

Introducing....Bear Talks

I came across a new blog that I've started following: Bear Talks. The blogger is new to blogging (he only has a few entries) but I'm already caught up in his short entries. I like his casual style. His blog is what I had hoped Behr Blather to be. I now have new inspiration.

So go check him out, tell him hello, and welcome to the blog-o-sphere.

Behr Crush

Last night's episode of Big Bang Theory had me sitting on the edge of the sofa leaning toward the television...all because of Casey Sander who plays "Mike," the father of the Bernadette character.

In last night's episode he was sporting a short, clipped beard, all snowy white. His raw masculinity just pours off his barrel chest. He's the daddy I've dreamt about since forever.

I now have a new subject to stalk. Yay!

Behr Catchup

I hope all of my American friends and followers had a nice Thanksgiving. I myself have a lot for which I'm thankful: my family, my home, my job, my friends.  I'm thankful my health situation isn't worse. I'm very thankful that I have Winston.

Friday was my Mom's birthday. We all met at the movie theater in the morning and saw "Life of Pi." We saw it in 2D since 3D prices are outrageous and my Mom prefers 2D. Spectacular movie. Gorgeous cinematography. A thought-provoking, soul-touching story. Amazing acting, especially by newcomer Suraj Sharma. I highly recommend this movie. I want to see it again so I can hopefully pick up on things I missed.

On Saturday I went to lunch and the cheap movies with a friend to see the Disney-Pixar movie "Brave." Who can resist Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, Julie Walters, and Kelly McDonald voicing Scottish characters? It was cute and funny, on par with their other movies. Like the other movie, I'd like to see it again to catch the things I missed. For example, I totally missed the Pixar Pizza Planet truck and a hidden Mickey!

I have three full weeks of work before taking the last two weeks of December off. I'm hoping they go quickly and - most of all - painlessly.

Behr Monday

This is how I wish I was spending my Monday morning...instead of going to work as usual. At least it's a short week for me, three work days. I'd gladly trade my two days off for one morning with this bear.

Behr Update

I've been somewhat absent due to dealing with some health issues and work being busy. The time change last weekend has thrown me for a loop as well. I've been falling asleep at the drop of a hat. It's dark when I leave for work and nearly dark when I get back home. Soon it will be dark.

For those of you who have your own blogs, you know what it's like to get a threatening or rude comment. These comments usually are left by "Anonymous." In other words, a coward who cannot use either a moniker or a real name. I recently had one of these "hecklers" on my Behr Hunt post. I've heard from him again and I could not help but reply. I'm quite amused by this one. I invite you to click on the link and read the amusing comments.

Monday is a Veteran's Day and therefore holiday for me. For some reason it snuck up on me. I have no plans but am hoping to do something, perhaps Disneyland or a movie.

Or maybe I'll go take pictures of fully clothed men's backsides and post them on my blog.

What Do You Know

America got it right!

At least in my humble opinion. To be honest, I was nervous about this election because of the impact that a change in administration would have on our country, especially regarding social issues. Another bullet dodged, I believe.

Hopefully with the reelection of President Obama our government will have little interruption. Oh sure, there are new congressmen and senators to orientate but there's no reason for a slow down in productivity.

And here's an odd thought: I really hope that President Obama foregoes an inaugural ball. The money spent on such "gala" events really are unnecessary expenses. A simple swearing in and parade should suffice, imho.

For now though, I'm proud of America.

Behr Movie: Hellbent

I'm not much of a horror fan but something compelled me to obtain Hellbent (2004) from Netflix, perhaps because it's billed as a "gay horror" film. I actually liked this movie despite it being a bit predictable and not that scary.

Basically it's the story of a serial killer targeting gay men on Halloween in West Hollywood. The movie starts with the murder of two gay men in a car the night before Halloween. The remainder of the movie follows five friends as they celebrate Halloween and their run in with the killer. There's a visit to a fetish club (Colton Ford makes an uncredited appearance), the street celebration in WeHo, and of course the climax in the main character's apartment.

The main characters are all attractive, of course, especially the bisexual Chaz (imo). Even the killer has an awesome bod.

The only drawback is the weapon is called a knife by the characters when in fact it is a sickle:

Now that's a wicked weapon!

There's great rock/punk music provided by Pansy Division, Nick Name, and Three Dollar Bill. There's blood, of course, and a few "scares" that the seasoned horror fans will yawn at. The ending is the best part, which sets up a possible sequel. And in case you're wondering there is definitely eye candy. Lots of eye candy.

The DVD includes a nice little featurette that includes clips of the movie and the cast and production team discussing various elements. It's obvious from this that the makers are not gay filmmakers; Joseph Wolf, Executive Producer, talks about how "gay people are just people." Steven J Wolfe, Producer, talks about discovering the huge gay horror fan base. Maybe it's all the negativity crap of the Presidential election going on but I found their comments to be heartening and supportive.

All in all the movie is just plain fun. And with it being the Halloween season, it is a nice little movie to cuddle and watch with your favorite buddy. Did I mention there's eye candy?

Behrmark's 2012 Hallowe'en Costume Ideas

Although Hallowe'en isn't until next Wednesday, many celebrants will be dressing up this weekend to attend parties, street fairs, and parades. If you're still undecided as to what costume to wear, here are some ideas - most are simple, some are a little more elaborate - but all guaranteed to get you noticed!

Drape a piece of cloth around your body to make a sexy toga. Finish the look with gold wrist cuffs.
Overalls always make a great, simple costume. Top it off with a hard hat and voila! You're a construction worker!
You may opt to leave the hard hat at home to free up your hands.
A red union suit always makes a sexy costume.
A bit more elaborate, the fireman daddy is sure to be a hit. Of course it helps if you already have all the gear to pull it off.
A simpler fireman look may be less expensive. (Hose not included.)
Since the economy has hit many of us hard, a simple festive option is to don an orange tie. Pair it with your favorite jockstrap, jeans, or slacks for a classier look.
Who can resist playing Santa?
Don a pair of green leather coveralls and BAM! Hammer time!
A leather mask from a Renaissance Faire adds the right hint of mystery.
Remember Goldie Hawn in "Protocol?" Take that checkered napkin (or table cloth) and you have instant sheik!
Your fetish wear makes a swell costume, too!
Fabric is a terrific starting point; tie it around your face and let it flow behind you, and you have a mysterious caliph. (Silk works best for this look.)
Finally, a butcher's apron can be imagined into a costume too. Splatter fake blood over it and carry a cleaver. Or maybe just wear it alone as Jake Mitchell is.

So there you have it - Behrmark's 2012 Hallowe'en Costume suggestions. Happy haunting!

BehrHunt

I'm not very good at taking pictures of strangers surreptitiously. It's not so much the subject of the camera's eye that worries me as it is other people who might observe me doing so. I know I should not care but...I do.

But with that aside, I did take a few pics of some rather attractive men. This first one is from one of my vacation visits to Disneyland...definitely wouldn't mind riding him!

This subject was seen at the corner of 6th and Flower in Downtown Los Angeles one afternoon.

Never mind his great legs...I want those shorts! Although I didn't really get a look at his face, one can tell there's a smokin' hot bod under all those clothes. Sometimes I do like going to work!

Last but not least, about a month ago, this fine bearish guy was our substitute conductor on the Metrolink train...

There are several woofy conductors who substitute; I usually am seated when i see them and taking a pic isn't always easy logistically. But believe me, they're all easy on the eyes making the commute a thing of beauty!

Thanks to my inspiration Dwight Supremacy for his SIRveillance and Backtracking features!

Friday Friendship

The power of the Internet is an amazing thing...included in that are the various apps available on our smart phones. As shared in previous posts, I have a voyeuristic tendency, and thus my use of GROWLr, the app for bears, cubs, chasers, and others.

I recently started communicating with a handsome guy who lives in Istanbul. Take a look:

We've moved from GROWLr to Bear411 (a social networking site) and Facebook (the ultimate social networking site). He's a very sweet, lovable, sincere man. I'd be lying if I didn't admit to wishing he lived closer.

I've also started chatting with someone else who is closer. From his GROWLr profile one would think he's only looking for hookups...but this second gentleman has professed a desire to get to know me as a friend. He says there's something about my picture that makes him shy and nervous, afraid of rejection, but also courageous enough to be whatever I want him to be and to give me whatever I want from him. (I will not mention his 11.5" appendage. Nope. Not even going to mention it.) He says I bring him feelings of joy and he thanks me for the positive vibe I give him.

So what's my point? My point is that despite what the conservatives and Far Right may say about us dirty homosexuals, we ARE capable of friendships that do not revolve around sex. Don't get me wrong...sex is good. It's great! It can be a marvelous bonding tool. But there's more to life - and more to relationships - than sex.

I recently posted about doing the Kidney Walk (this Sunday) and that I'm raising funds. I am truly touched by all those who made a donation. And no, I'm not trying to guilt anyone here...merely using this as an example of the love, friendship, and good will that exists among us. I feel an affinity for my followers and cyber friends. I may fantasize about them (did I say may??), but it's the friendship that makes me who I am. When I'm feeling melancholy I can turn to this here blog and will get those messages of encouragement and friendship from all over the globe.

So thank you...each and every one of you for what you give me. I love you all!
